Gurm Bacchus

MA MSc. Pg. Dip. Acupuncture MBAcC

I am a qualified Acupuncturist registered with the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). I have been running a busy private practice in Leeds since completing my four years of acupuncture training at the Northern College of Acupuncture, York in 2005.

I was the Course Leader and Senior Lecturer for the BSc (Hons) Acupuncture course at Leeds Beckett University (2008-2015) and managed the course towards achieving professional accreditation, working collaboratively with the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board.

As a registered psychotherapist, these skills complement my work as an acupuncturist. The strong communication and active listening skills honed in therapy allow me to deeply understand my patients’ concerns and build a trusting relationship. This is essential for creating a safe and comfortable environment where acupuncture’s benefits can flourish when working with the complexities of physical and mental wellbeing in modern life.

Making a Wider Difference with Acupuncture

Since 2016, I’ve volunteered as a specialist acupuncture provider at the Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre at St James’ Hospital, Leeds. This allows me to make acupuncture treatment more accessible to cancer patients and their carers, and support them through this challenging time in their life.

Despite being somewhat sceptical when my complementary therapist recommended acupuncture several years ago, I decided to give it a go. I am pleased to report that Gurm has successfully treated me for a range of conditions, including urticaria, tummy upsets, colds and various menopausal symptoms – acupuncture being especially helpful with the hot flushes. He also treated me for the emotional trauma of first my Mum’s and then my Dad’s deaths. I have recommended Gurm to several of my friends.
